BTN Fun Bike Participated by 1,000 Participants

It was truly overwhelming. Participants of Bali Travel News (BTN) Fun Bike 2009 surpassed the target. Out of 500 participants set up by the committee, in fact it soared up into 933 participants. The event held in relation to the eleventh anniversary of Bali Travel News, the Earth Day and Environmental Day, was not only thronged by participants, but also by prizes. Participants, who have paddled their bike along some 20 km, were showered by door prizes and other attractive awards.


And one thing made the fun bike different was the costumes used by participants that were of various style and full of creations. They wore t-shirt with pants up to uniform of chef and waistcoat made form coconut leaf. Besides, the bikes in use were also very innovative, ranging from regular bike to modified bike. In terms of participants, they were from children, youngsters and old people to foreign tourists.
Some 45 minutes, participants have arrived at finish line. They were entertained by beautiful singer and guided by amusing presenter. Therefore, they did not feel fatigue. Participants having high creativity or met the criteria were shown appreciation from the committee in the form of awards.
Those receiving the awards consisted of ICA (Indonesian Chef Association) as the most unique club, Sandat Club as the club having the largest number of participant, Didik appointed as the participant of harmonious family, Kaka—the young-coconut-leaf man as participant of the most unique clothes and Mr. George was presented an award as The Best Non-Indonesia Performance.
Other lucky participants also won door prize ranging from meal coupon, hotel voucher, TV, refrigerator, bike, DVD player, hand phone, Garuda Indonesia ticket (Denpasar-Yogyakarta-Denpasar), Thai Airways ticket (Denpasar-Bangkok-Denpasar) up to two units of motorbike achieved by Indah (household mother) and Krisnaya (student) from Denpasar. Fun Bike opened by IB Subhiksu, Bali Government Tourism Office, Sunday (26/4) was started at 06:30 located in front of the Bali Office of Cultural Services.

Melia Bali to Host the “7K Run & Fun Walk”

NUSA DUA—Bali Hotel Association (BHA) Sport and Cultural Carnival 2009, Saturday (18/4) was officially inaugurated. It denoted annual event of BHA to establish togetherness among the hotels throughout Bali. This year, Melia Bali is re-entrusted to host the BHA 7 Run & Fun Walk.
Wayan Wetny, Chairman of the Committee of 7K Run & Fun Walk reported that there were 700 participants from 37 hotels and villas across Bali joined the Fun Walk and 100 participants joined the 7K Run.
Chairman of BHA, Robert Lagerway, opened the start at Mini Square in front of the office of BTDC, Nusa Dua.
Participants of 7K Run covered a distance at the vicinities of BTDC Nusa Dua, went out to Siligita Street and turned back to the area of BTDC from Pratama Street and finished at BTDC Amphitheater. Meanwhile, the route of Fun Walk took the same start at BTDC Amphitheater, heading for the Geger Beach Street, explored the pathways along the Nusa Dua Beach and finished at BTDC Amphitheater. “No less than 120 staff of Melia Bali and family joined to grace the event with 800 participants of hotel and villa employees across Bali,” he said.
In the midst of the event, Gede Suarsa, Director of Human Resources of Melia Bali said that he was very proud and would like to express his sincere gratitude on the trust extended by BHA to Melia Bali so that the hotel could organized the 7K Run & Fun Walk. “We are committed to support the inter-hotels sport and cultural development program where we involved 120 staff of Melia Bali to take part,” Suarsa added.
Resident Manager of Melia Bali, Juan Pedro Lemes Duarte, who also took part in the 7K Run delivered his positive message that in developing the togetherness among the hotels throughout Bali such activity was very important to continue and improve in years to come.
